Sonarc was probably among the first lossless compressors - the version featured here dates back to 1994. Despite the age it can compress files to a somewhat decent ratio.

Officially it is a shareware program but to my knowledge there are no limitations. Registration is now impossible unless you can contact the author, Richard P. Sprague, and pay him the fee.

Compression performance in my limited test: 58,08% (-X setting)
