Windows Liquifier TM Pro 5.0 BETA 1 - Technical FAQ

Last Update: 12/22/99

Installation

Liquifier Pro 5.0 should install successfully on top of a previous installation - The 5.0 installer will detect that you have an earlier version of the Liquifier Pro installed, and will prompt you to replace the old installation with the newer one. Answer "No" to this prompt and specify a new directory for the 5.0 installation. Note that each version has it's own set of settings and options, so options set in one version will not carry over to other installations.

You may experience problems if you install the Liquifier 4.0 after installing the Liquifier 5.0. To solve these problems, simply re-install the 5.0 Liquifier. You should not loose any of your stored settings or options.

This Beta version of the Liquifier will expire on March 25, 1999.

Liquifier 5.0 uses a different serial number mechanism than 4.0. You should receive new registration information with this Beta version of the Liquifier.

Compatibility

Due to the new features and enhancements in version 5.0, LQM files which are generated in the 5.0 Liquifier can not be opened or validated using older versions. This will cause undetermined behavior and may crash the application.

Additional Information

Truncated Watermarking Info - Fixed watermarks can only support up to 17 characters of data. When using a custom Song ID as watermark data (using the "Other" selection), it is possible to have more than 17 characters of data for the watermark. This data will be truncated to the first 17 characters in the watermark, but will remain intact in the LQM file.

All transactional watermarking features have been disabled in this Beta.

Known Bugs

When importing media from a text file which contain ">" or "<" symbols, the Liquifier may fail to import media correctly. This happens because the application uses these symbols to delineate tags in the text file. If this occurs, open the media in a text editor (such as notepad), and remove any ">" or "<" symbols which are not part of a data tag. In general, it's best to avoid using these symbols in your media when you plan to use the Import/Export as text features.

The Liquifier my crash during the log-in process in the Publish pane when an invalid port number is used. Make sure to use the correct port number when connecting to a hosted account.
