Advanced Digital Audio

Advanced Digital Audio (ADA) is a command line audio encoder, decoder and player developed by Heiko Volk.

Besides a lossless compression mode (so inefficient, it is the worst performing lossless compressor in RRW!), it features a lossy mode that is probably just using quantization (like WavPack lossy, OptimFrog Dual Stream and all the countless ADPCM flavors).

In my super brief and unscientific tests, it seemed as lossy compression level 4 (~2:1 compression) provided decent quality, and higher compression levels would introduce noticeable degradation. The player mode expects an SB16-compatible audio interface, so it is better to playback ADA inside a DOSbox environment.

Compression performance in my limited test: 66,6%
