Dicas/zPlane Compaact!

Compaact! Compaact! was an AAC encoder developed by the DSP engineer Alexander Lerch, released in late 2003.

It met good acceptance as soon as it was released. It was packed with interesting features: VBR and CBR modes, four different quality levels (from faster encoding to higher quality), support for LC and Main profiles, ability to select tools such as TNS or PNS, multichannel encoding support, several preprocessing routines, and a very interesting preview feature that allows users to preview in real time how their tracks will sound after encoded. All of this in a very pleasing and easy to use interface.

There is also a batch encoder called [mass encoder] that can be launched from the File menu.

For some reason, it was discontinued in early 2005. You can see a mirror of the original Compaact! page at the Internet Archive.
